Why bring a unit to Focus Aviation?
Most avionics faults are diagnosed as a box, then solved by replacing the box. That is fast, and it is often the most expensive answer available. We work the other way round: isolate the fault, open the unit, and repair what is actually wrong with it.
That approach covers a wide span of equipment. The same bench that services a mechanical altimeter also services current digital line-replaceable units, which matters when a single aircraft carries forty years of technology in one panel.

- Do you repair units the manufacturer no longer supports?
- Frequently, yes. Equipment falling off a manufacturer's repair list is not the same as equipment being unrepairable — most of what fails inside a unit is a component-level problem with a component-level fix. Send us the part number and we will tell you honestly whether it is a realistic repair.
- How do I know whether to repair or replace?
- Ask for both quoted side by side, with timelines. Repair is usually better value and keeps proven hardware on the aircraft, but if a serviceable exchange unit gets you flying materially sooner, that can be the right call. The decision should be made on facts rather than on whichever option the shop prefers to sell.
- What if the fault will not reproduce on the bench?
- That is the most common and most difficult category of avionics fault, and it is not a reason to send the unit back untouched. We test for the conditions that trigger it — temperature, vibration, supply variation — rather than confirming it works once at room temperature and calling it serviceable.
